Volunteers Create Largest Map of Ukraine Made of Easter Cakes

Date:

A group of Ukrainian volunteers has set a new record by creating the largest map of Ukraine made entirely of Easter cakes. The map, which measures 11 meters 40 centimeters by 7 meters, was made using 5,900 Easter cakes. To create the cakes, the volunteers used a ton of flour, 2,000 eggs, 80 kg of butter, 200 liters of milk, and 50 kg of sugar.

Volunteers Come Together to Bake Easter Cakes

The group responsible for the record-breaking creation is the Palianytsia special unit, a team of volunteers who have been baking goodies for the military since the start of the war. Originally, the group was just a small gathering of volunteers who cooked for the military units of Podilsk and the Defense Ministry, but it soon grew and split into a large culinary special unit. The baked goods from Podilsk have been sent to soldiers across the country for over a year.

“Our main goal was not just to set a record, but to treat as many soldiers as possible with homemade Easter cakes and give them a sense of home. Easter is an important family holiday, but unfortunately, not everyone can celebrate it with their families. This is what united our volunteer community,” said Oleksiy Honcharenko, founder of the network.

Record-Breaking Bake

The Palianytsia team, led by Lyudmila Tatar, spent five days baking thousands of Easter cakes almost non-stop. The team includes volunteers of all ages, from a 5-year-old to a 69-year-old. The team received a special certificate from the National Register of Records of Ukraine, and some of the Easter goodies were distributed to the military, while the rest will be sent to soldiers on the front line.

“The team had been preparing for over a month, and then they baked Easter cakes for a week. This is really a record that makes sense. We are proud of these Ukrainians”, said Lana Vetrova, head of the National Register of Records of Ukraine
