Ukrainian athletes, karatists, judokas, ski acrobatics are conquering the European heights

Ukrainian athletes show a good result. Three athletes from Ukraine performed at the Grand Prix jumping to the height – Beskydska Latka Trinec 2023, which were held within the framework of the World Sports Tour category “Silver” in Turin, Czech Republic.

First place went to Irina Gerashchenko with a score of 1.90 m. Yulia Chumachenko with a score of 1.87 m shared second place with Maria Vukovic from Montenegro. Yekaterina Tabashnik with a score of 1.84 m took fourth place.

Ukrainian karatists – one of the strongest in Europe – successfully performed at the continental championship. European Championship among cadets, juniors and youth was held in Larnaca (Cyprus). Ukrainian karate team in karate took the third overall place. The competition was attended by 1,139 participants from 48 countries. 32 athletes represented Ukraine.

Ukrainians received 8 medals, including 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.

Winners of the tournament: Maxim Bugayev (kumit, juniors, 21 years old, up to 84 kg), Elina Selemeneva (kumite, juniors, 21 years old, up to 68 kg), Darya Bulay (kumite, cadets, 61+ kg), Gela Kiria (kumite, cadets, up to 70 kg).

Silver awards received: Natalia Osadchuk (kumite, juniors 21 years old, up to 55 kg) and Julia Krot (kumite, juniors, 66+ kg).

The third place was taken by Polina Marchenko (kumite, juniors, up to 48 kg) and Oleg Pashchenko (kumite, juniors, up to 75 kg).

Ukrainian judokas received high awards – “gold” and “silver” at the  Grand Slam  tournaments in Paris

Bogdan Yadov, 26 years old, received “gold” in the weight category up to 66 kg.

In the final, the European champion-2022, thanks to a throw at the “Vasa-ari”, defeated Erkhambayar Battogh from Mongolia and for the first time in his career won the gold medal at the Grand Slam tournaments.

Daria Bilodid won the bronze in the 57 kg weight category.

In the final at the Golden Score winner of the 2020 Olympics won against the representative of Portugal Thelma Monteiro. Daria made her debut in the IJF World Tour in the 57 kg category.

Freestylist Dmitry Kotovsky showed a brilliant result – won the World Cup in ski acrobatics

In the fourth stage of the World Cup in the American Deer Valley. 21-year-old athlete performed in the superfinal extremely difficult bFtFF jump – triple backflip with five twists called “Hurricane”, and received 138.32 of 156 possible points from the judges. The Ukrainian was the second in history athlete who successfully competed in the competition.

This achievement became a new record of Ukraine, and Dmitry Kotovsky won his first world championship.

Ukrainian “flying skier” rose to second place in the overall score of the World Cup, losing only 18 points to the leader, Swiss Noah Rowe, and joined the fight for the Crystal Globe.
