UAE Field Hospital in Gaza: One Year of Life-Saving Service

Marking its first anniversary of operations, the UAE Field Hospital in Gaza has emerged as a beacon of hope and resilience, providing critical medical care to more than 48,700 Palestinians since its opening in December 2023. Established under the UAE’s Gallant Knight 3 operation, the 200-bed facility in Rafah has been instrumental in addressing the overwhelming healthcare needs of civilians affected by the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict.

Unwavering Commitment to Medical Excellence

Over the past year, the hospital’s medical team has conducted over 1,780 surgeries, ranging from minor procedures to critical interventions. These surgeries span various specialties, including orthopedics, neurology, and general surgery, ensuring that patients receive top-tier care.

The hospital is equipped with advanced technology and provides a range of services such as:

  • General and orthopedic surgeries
  • Anesthesia and intensive care for adults and children
  • Dentistry and psychiatric care
  • Telemedicine consultations powered by Starlink Internet Services

Additionally, the UAE supplied 10 ambulances and 400 tonnes of medical supplies, ensuring a steady flow of resources to support Gaza’s medical infrastructure.

A Testament to Humanitarian Spirit

The UAE’s commitment to Gaza goes beyond medical aid. The hospital inaugurated a prosthetics center in February, offering state-of-the-art rehabilitation services to help individuals regain mobility and return to normal life. Moreover, the medical staff has shown extraordinary dedication by organizing five blood donation campaigns, contributing critical aid to local hospitals.

Dr. Sultan Al Kaabi, the hospital’s director, highlighted the unity forged in these efforts:
The Emirati blood has mixed with the Palestinian blood in one vein.

Celebrating Unity Amid Challenges

On December 3, volunteers and patients at the field hospital came together to commemorate the UAE’s 53rd Eid Al Etihad, reflecting the spirit of solidarity between the Emirati and Palestinian people. Hamad Al Neyadi, head of the UAE relief mission, expressed gratitude and reaffirmed the UAE’s unwavering support:
We will continue to help and support our brothers in Gaza.

Comprehensive Support Beyond Medical Aid

The UAE has been at the forefront of supporting Gaza since the war began in October 2023. The Emirates has provided food, clothing, shelter, and medical care to displaced civilians, partnering with organizations such as the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and the Emirates Red Crescent.

A Legacy of Hope

With at least 44,466 lives lost and 80% of Gaza’s population displaced, the UAE Field Hospital stands as a symbol of hope and resilience. Its services have become a lifeline for thousands of civilians in dire need of medical care, embodying the UAE’s dedication to humanitarian aid and support.
