Major fashion brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce & Gabbana, and DKNY are set to take part at the upcoming Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) on the virtual platform Decentraland. The event will take place from March 28 to 31, 2023, following real-world Fashion Weeks that will happen from February to March in cities around the world.
Exciting Additions to the Lineup
Several new brands will be joining the event, including Adidas – the biggest name among the newcomers at the MVFW . Adidas will allow owners of its Virtual Gear non-fungible token (NFT) digital fashion collection to showcase their items on Decentraland. Meanwhile, Ben Bridge, a US jeweller, and Amorepacific, a Korean beauty brand, will also be making an appearance.
Fashion and Technology Come Together
Tommy Hilfiger’s presentations will feature a touch of artificial intelligence (AI) alongside its regular product line-up. Forbes reports that the use of AI-generated fashion is not a surprise given the increasing popularity of ChatGPT and other chatbots.
DKNY will be showcasing its DKNY.3 concept, featuring an art gallery, pizzeria, and rooftop lounge. Additionally, the avatars designed by Peter Dundas will be presented in partnership with UME, while the wearables will be presented with DRESSX. Dolce & Gabbana will showcase the winning designs from its Future Reward design competition.
The second edition of MVFW is expected to draw even more attendees than the first, which had over 108,000 visitors. The event will also feature the Miami Fashion Week, which will be the first fashion week recognized by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to participate in the event.
Embracing Personal Aesthetics in the Digital World
Dr. Giovanna Graziosi Casimiro, head of Metaverse Fashion Week, said that the event has shown the world a strong use case for the metaverse: digital fashion. Graziosi Casimiro added that in the digital world, people want to individualize their personal aesthetics, just like in the real world.
Overall, the upcoming Metaverse Fashion Week is shaping up to be an exciting event for fashion lovers and tech enthusiasts alike, as major brands embrace the potential of the virtual platform to showcase their latest collections and designs.
