Iran, Uzbekistan Express Readiness To Enhance Cooperation In Agriculture

Date:

Iran’s Minister of Agriculture, Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh, has emphasized Iran’s commitment to expanding agricultural cooperation with Uzbekistan, offering expertise in engineering, training, and research.

In a recent meeting with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Nasriev Fariddin Badriddinovich, Minister Nouri Ghezeljeh highlighted the broad potential for collaboration in livestock breeding, drip irrigation, and greenhouse construction.

The Iranian minister praised the visionary leadership of both countries’ presidents in prioritizing joint initiatives and noted that Iran’s advanced agricultural capabilities align well with Uzbekistan’s needs.

These include not only low-cost greenhouse construction but also storage solutions, agricultural product processing, and disinfection technology – all of which, he stressed, can greatly enhance Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.

With a trade goal of $2 billion set during previous high-level discussions, Nouri Ghezeljeh urged that the economic exchanges between Iran and Uzbekistan need to reflect their shared history and common interests.

The ambitious target aims to stimulate bilateral economic growth, focusing on agriculture as a key driver.

Strengthening logistics, such as air and railway links, was identified as a top priority to facilitate smoother trade. Meanwhile, Ambassador Nasriev conveyed his country’s eagerness to partner in seven specific agricultural areas.

These initiatives include adopting modern irrigation methods, cultivating drought-resistant crops like pistachios, establishing cutting-edge greenhouses, and producing agricultural equipment.

Both officials outlined an agenda for cooperative efforts in poultry and turkey production, animal feed, and scientific research.

Additionally, they pledged to exchange knowledge in livestock and aquaculture practices, marking a significant step toward solidifying agricultural ties between Tehran and Tashkent.
