Saudi Government to Boost Logistics and Healthcare Startups: Key Initiatives Announced

Date:

Saudi Arabia is ramping up efforts to strengthen its startup ecosystem, with a particular focus on the logistics and healthcare sectors. According to Mohammed Al-Ariefy, the Assistant Deputy Minister of Entrepreneurship at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, several programs will soon be launched to support tech-driven startups and accelerate the Kingdom’s digital economy.

Speaking at Biban 24 in Riyadh, Al-Ariefy announced that these initiatives include partnerships, hackathons, and direct support aimed at tackling real-world challenges in logistics and healthcare. “We’re planning to launch multiple programs at Biban that focus on partnerships within logistics and healthcare. One of these is a hackathon that we’re calling the Tech Challenges,” he stated.

A Vibrant Startup Ecosystem

The Biban 24 forum serves as a critical platform for launching these initiatives. Organized by Monsha’at, the event features a startup zone where emerging companies can network, collaborate, and connect with potential investors.

The ministry aims to address industry-specific challenges by fostering an environment where startups can create innovative solutions, contributing significantly to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals.

“We focus on the technology side, introducing emerging and deep-tech systems that startups can adopt across various industries like real estate, healthcare, and sustainable construction,” Al-Ariefy added.

Startups: A Crucial Economic Driver

Highlighting the rapid scalability and agility of startups, Al-Ariefy emphasized their importance in driving economic growth. “Startups tend to scale faster, run more agile, and help us increase the contribution to the economy from digital companies, as well as technology jobs,” he said.

The ministry’s dual approach involves supporting established tech corporations while nurturing startups to ensure a balanced and thriving tech ecosystem.

With these programs, Saudi Arabia is poised to lead the region in technological innovation, driving job creation, and boosting the economy through its ever-growing startup ecosystem.
