Izmail Commercial Sea Port Breaks 1989 Cargo Record

Izmail Commercial Sea Port, a state-owned enterprise in Ukraine, broke a historical record for cargo handling in March 2023. The port handled 721,500 tons of various cargo, surpassing the previous record of 712,000 tons set in May 1989. The company announced the news on their Facebook page and expressed their pride in achieving the remarkable milestone.

Various Cargo Types Handled

During the month of March, the port handled different types of cargo, including general, bulk, liquid, and containers. They shipped 506,900 tons of cargo for export and handled more than 209,000 tons of imported cargo. A total of 88 seagoing vessels were loaded in March. This result was achieved due to the joint efforts of every employee of the enterprise, who have done all their best in their posts.

Director’s Message of Pride and Gratitude

In a message on the Facebook page of the Izmail Commercial Sea Port, the Director of the State Enterprise “IZM MTP,” Andrey Erokhin, expressed to colleagues, partners, and friends his pride in the achievement.

Erokhin highlighted the challenges they faced in reaching the milestone, including handling different types of cargo that require various technological approaches with regard to safe working conditions.

He also noted the significance of the number of ships handled, which totaled 88 with a cargo volume of 365,300 tons.

He acknowledged that the milestone was not easy for them, especially under martial law, but the Port of Izmail has become one of the pillars of the Ukrainian economy. The port of Izmail has confirmed its title as a seaport. It ensures the movement of goods by sea to both sides of the border, pays taxes to the budgets of different levels in a timely manner and hires people who were forced to move to Izmail. This record is a testament of the hard work, dedication, and coordination of every employee and partner.

“I thank each of you for your professional approach and teamwork! I thank our partners and all those who help in the daily, hourly, and minute-to-minute work of the enterprise!”, he added.
