UAE Unveils AI-Powered ‘Smart Cars’ at Gitex 2025 to Instantly Detect Visa Violators

Date:

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) unveiled a new fleet of intelligent, fully electric cars—the “ICP Inspection Car”—at GITEX Global 2025, designed for real-time identification of visa and residency violators. This mobile surveillance unit, equipped with a 680km range and built to operate in the UAE’s challenging climate, is set to be deployed soon to significantly enhance the efficiency and safety of field inspection teams. The vehicle’s cutting-edge technology is a shift away from traditional methods, aiming to streamline the processing of violations instantly and securely.

The core of the vehicle’s capability lies in its advanced Artificial Intelligence algorithms and a robust camera system. The car is equipped with six high-resolution cameras providing full perimeter coverage up to 10 meters in all directions. The system captures and immediately processes facial images in real time, with AI algorithms analyzing features with high speed and precision. Its recognition system can instantly identify wanted persons through sophisticated pattern matching, triggering a smart alert system when a match is found against the Authority’s secure database.Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of the ICP, stated that the project is an innovation in field control methods, aimed at supporting inspection teams, enhancing efficiency, and accelerating emergency response using automated analysis. This initiative is one of four major AI-powered projects being showcased by the ICP at Gitex, including a Smart Faceprint digital system for seamless services and a Smart Contact Centre capable of handling over 20,000 calls daily using AI to process multiple dialects, all developed by Emirati talent to bolster the UAE’s smart services ecosystem.
