Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan is set to attend the Annual National Science Technology and Innovation Conference and Exhibition (STICE) in Dar es Salaam, which will be held from June 14 to 16.
The conference aims to bring together researchers, scientists, innovators, and policymakers to discuss research and innovation outcomes in the country and their contribution to policy making.
Building Relationships and Showcasing Innovations
The Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) announced that President Samia will be the guest of honour. This was stated on Tuesday by the Director General of the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), Dr. Amos Nungu.
“We have invited President Samia to be our guest of honour, where researchers, innovators and pioneers will have the opportunity to receive policy direction from national leaders and the minister responsible,” Dr Nungu said.
According to Dr Amos Nungu, the Director General of COSTECH, the conference seeks to build research and business relationships between local and foreign counterparts.
The conference will feature a variety of topics, including national preparedness for the fourth industrial revolution, science, technology and innovation for a green economy, and innovation for people’s development. Other topics include the contribution of indigenous knowledge to science development, open science, and technology and innovation in Tanzania.
The Conference’s Objectives
The theme of the conference is ‘Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development’. The objectives of the STICE conference include enabling researchers, creators, and local innovators to meet with their foreign counterparts to build business and research relationships. The conference also seeks to review scientific findings and ongoing technological advancements taking place in the country, with the aim of advising the government and its agencies.
Dr Nungu revealed that the STICE conference is part of COSTECH’s mission. The conference will enable researchers and innovators to receive national recognition, showcasing their innovations and technologies to the public.
