Sharon Padi’s ‘Reflexions’: CEO of Padiki Arts Gallery Launches her First Poetry Book

Sharon Dede Padi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Padiki Arts Gallery, has unveiled her debut poetry book with the aim of fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of art in its various forms. The publication showcases a collection of paintings that encompass a wide range of styles, colors, and themes, including abstract pieces inspired by local heritage, intended to celebrate Ghana’s vibrant culture and rich history.

Promoting Ghanaian Culture through Art

Addressing the media at the book launch event in Accra, Madam Padi emphasized the importance of raising awareness about Ghanaian culture through the arts, with the objective of making the country a more enticing destination for the diaspora. She highlighted the need to instill a deeper appreciation and understanding of Ghanaian cultural roots and origins through artistic expression.

Madam Padi expressed her concern about lack of appreciation and understanding among the local population. Despite her academic background in architecture and engineering, Madam Padi discovered her passion for painting at a young age and has continued to cultivate her talent alongside her professional career.

Supporting the Creative Arts Industry

Speaking at the event, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, emphasized the importance of government support for the creative arts industry as a means to combat youth unemployment. He advocated for the allocation of funds to the sector, similar to other industries, in order to encourage talented young individuals to express themselves artistically and provide them with financial assistance. Ablakwa highlighted the transformative power of art in healing, expanding perspectives, empowering individuals, and creating employment opportunities.

Hassan Ayariga, the Founder of All People’s Congress (APC), echoed the sentiment that poetry books should be made more affordable for all. Ayariga stressed that reducing the cost would enable vulnerable individuals to benefit from the enriching experiences they provide.

In overall, the launch of Sharon Dede Padi’s poetry book marks a significant milestone in promoting art appreciation and understanding in Ghana. The event serves as a call to support the creative arts industry and nurture the talents of individuals in the field, while also advocating for increased accessibility to artistic works for all segments of society.
