Qatar and Iran Explore Economic Cooperation and Infrastructure Projects

Date:

Qatar’s Ambassador to Iran, Saad Abdullah Saad Al Mahmoud Al-Sharif, met with Iran’s Energy Minister, Abbas Aliabadi, in Tehran on Wednesday to discuss enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting focused on advancing existing agreements and exploring new opportunities for bilateral collaboration. A key topic was the upcoming 10th Iran-Qatar Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, scheduled to be held in Doha in December.

Both parties also discussed expanding economic ties through strategic infrastructure projects, including plans to connect the electricity grids of the two countries.

Additionally, the two nations are progressing with plans for an ambitious undersea tunnel project to improve connectivity between Iran’s southern coast and Qatar. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance transportation and trade, boosting regional tourism and economic integration.

As part of these efforts, discussions also included organizing a conference and business event to coincide with the December meetings, aimed at further strengthening economic relations between Iran and Qatar.
