Putin, Xi reach important agreements at BRICS summit — China’s MFA

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping have reached a significant new understanding during their recent meeting at the BRICS summit held in Kazan.

The consensus was announced by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, following his talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko in Beijing.

Highlighting the successful completion of the summit, Wang Yi remarked, “The leaders of China and Russia held their third meeting this year and achieved new, important agreements.”

He noted that the event strengthened solidarity among Global South nations, emphasizing its constructive impact on global stability.

The 16th BRICS Summit, held from October 22 to 24 under Russia’s chairmanship, saw participants adopting the Kazan Declaration.

Key points of the declaration included strategies for the association’s development, approaches to pressing global issues, and discussions on regional crises, including those in Ukraine and the Middle East.

This year’s summit was a central component of Russia’s BRICS leadership, underscoring the bloc’s focus on economic cooperation, political unity, and an enhanced role for developing nations in global affairs.
