Tanzanian President’s Easter greetings

Easter is a vital celebration for Christians. “Wishing you all a very Happy Easter. May the symbol of hope and possibilities that this day carries remind us of our responsibilities to one another, and God’s constant call for renewal and reforms in our lives, our families and our country,” Samia tweeted.

The Tanzanian police have increased security measures across the country ahead of Easter festivities. Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) David Misime, the Police Spokesperson, said that patrols and surveillance have been heightened in social places and churches to maintain calm, and reduce traffic accidents. Misime emphasized the need for cooperation, which he described as the most effective tool for identifying and preventing crime. The police force is committed to educating the public and keeping up the campaign against crime.

Bishop Methodius Kilaini appeal

Bishop Methodius Kilaini, the Apostolic Administrator of Bukoba Catholic Diocese, urged Tanzanians to celebrate Easter together.

“We should unite in celebrating this occasion. Tanzania, one of the most peaceful and politically stable African countries, offers an attractive investment climate, a rich and diverse natural resource base and a growing consumer market. It’s these widely acknowledged factors that have made the country a darling of foreign investors and multi-national companies,” Bishop Methodius Kilaini, the Apostolic Administrator of Bukoba Catholic Diocese said.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s Easter message is a timely reminder of the need for renewal and changes. Tanzanian Christians should take the opportunity to reflect on their responsibilities to each other and to their country to build a better future for themselves and their children.
