LEAKED: Vinicius Junior Wins 2024 Ballon d’Or

Date:

Spain’s Marca newspaper has reportedly leaked Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior as the likely winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

The 24-year-old Brazilian would lift his first-ever Ballon d’Or trophy on Monday night, joining an elite club of players honoured with world football’s most prestigious individual award.

The leak is part of an “unconfirmed list” circulating online, which ranks the top 12 players by voting points. Vinicius reportedly leads the list with 630 points, followed closely by Manchester City midfielder Rodri with 576 points and Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham in third.

Kylian Mbappé, Harry Kane, and Erling Haaland also make the top tier, while breakout star Lamine Yamal, who recently shined at Euro 2024, is set to feature among the elite 12.

Vinicius’s 2023-2024 season was pivotal, with 26 goals and 11 assists for Real Madrid.

His strong start to the new season has also further solidified his triumph.

In La Liga, he has already registered five goals and six assists, complemented by three goals in the Champions League, marking a brilliant year for the young star since joining Real Madrid from Flamengo in 2018.

While Marca has previously hinted at Vinicius’s imminent victory, suggesting he was already informed of his win, the anticipation is set to climax on Monday night as the world tunes in to see if he will indeed lift the Golden Ball.
