Renowned for his illustrious football career, Kanouté has shifted his focus to nurturing young athletes. Arriving on December 11, the former Malian striker will spend six days identifying promising players from Tanzania and East Africa, with aspirations of preparing them for European football careers.

Kanouté’s visit aligns with his commitment to youth development through his sports academy in Mali. His presence underscores the significance of the Chipkizi Cup as a platform for scouting top-tier talent.

About the Chipkizi Cup 2024

This year’s Chipkizi Cup marks its 15th edition and promises to be a grand affair, featuring over 320 teams and 4,800 participants across various age categories.

  • Participants: Teams from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Zambia, and Burundi, including international first-timers like Kafue Celtic FC from Zambia and Plateau United Team B from Nigeria.
  • Sports Disciplines: Football, basketball, and swimming events.
  • Venues: Matches will be held at UWC, Agha-Khan, Saint Constantine, TGT, and Braeburn International School in Arusha.
