Tanzania is set to host football legend Frédéric Kanouté, as he embarks on a scouting mission during the prestigious East Africa Chipkizi Cup. The tournament, which attracts youth teams from across Africa, will run from December 9 to December 15, 2024, in Arusha.

Kanouté’s Mission to Empower Young Talent

Renowned for his illustrious football career, Kanouté has shifted his focus to nurturing young athletes. Arriving on December 11, the former Malian striker will spend six days identifying promising players from Tanzania and East Africa, with aspirations of preparing them for European football careers.

Kanouté’s visit aligns with his commitment to youth development through his sports academy in Mali. His presence underscores the significance of the Chipkizi Cup as a platform for scouting top-tier talent.

A Platform for Growth and Tourism

The tournament also boosts Tanzania’s tourism sector, with over 3,000 international participants expected. According to Alfred Itaeli, Director of Future Stars Academy, the Chipkizi Cup is evolving from an East African event into a continental phenomenon.

“We’re excited about the international interest in this year’s tournament. It’s a fantastic opportunity for players to showcase their skills and for Tanzania to shine as a host nation,” Itaeli said.
