Iran Demands UN Action After Trump Acknowledges US Role in IDF Strikes on Iranian Territory 🇮🇷🇺🇸

Date:

The Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Amir Saeid Iravani, has sent a formal letter to the Council and the Secretary-General demanding immediate action after U.S. President Donald Trump publicly acknowledged that the U.S. directed the Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) strikes on Iranian territory in June 2025. The letter, submitted following the U.S. admission of responsibility for its own strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22, 2025, accused Washington of “irrefutable” responsibility for those initial attacks and subsequent Israeli actions.

The letter explicitly stated that the United States’ claim of “collective self-defense” to justify its actions and complicity with Israel is legally unfounded, politically dangerous, and strategically destabilizing. Iran argues that the combined U.S. and Israeli military campaign, which included strikes on key Iranian nuclear sites, constituted a clear and flagrant breach of international law and the UN Charter’s Article 2(4), which prohibits the threat or use of force against any state’s territorial integrity.

Iran’s demand urges the UNSC to fulfill its primary duty to maintain international peace and security by unequivocally condemning the U.S. actions and compelling all parties to halt the escalation. The diplomatic move reflects Tehran’s strategy of utilizing multilateral forums to challenge what it views as the unilateral aggression of the U.S. and Israel, warning that a failure to act risks catastrophic consequences for regional stability.
