Guinness World Records: the youngest person to visit all 44 countries in Europe

Date:

California teenager, Rio Matsuoka, has set a new world record by becoming the youngest person to visit all 44 countries in Europe, according to Guinness World Records. The 18-year-old started his journey in Iceland on his birthday and completed it after 101 days in Malta.

Youngest to Visit All European Countries

Matsuoka, who graduated from high school, said he was inspired to travel around Europe after doing some research and learning about the world record for the youngest person to visit every country in the world. He decided to aim for a similar feat by visiting every country in Europe, which he was able to do thanks to the Schengen Area’s open borders.

“It was a real coincidence that I decided to attempt this world record,” Matsuoka told GWR. “I was telling my family that I would like to travel to Europe after I graduated high school and, while doing some research, I remembered that someone had beaten the world record for youngest person to visit every country in the world.”

“I realized I could do something similar with Europe and found out I had the opportunity to,” he said.
Matsuoka traveled mostly by train and bus, limiting plane travel to a few visits to Britain and Russia. He wanted to make his journey as affordable and sustainable as possible, and so he took the time to find the best deals on transportation.

Volunteering in Ukraine

After completing his world record journey, Matsuoka continued his travels and is now working as a volunteer for several nonprofits in Ukraine. He plans to take on more world records in the future, according to Guinness World Records.

Matsuoka’s accomplishment has drawn attention and admiration from around the world, with many people congratulating him on social media. His achievement is an inspiration to other young people who are interested in traveling and exploring new places. His journey is a great example of what young people can accomplish with dedication and a passion for adventure.
