Ghana’s Renowned Costume and Makeup Designer, Belinda Ama Aflakpui, Receives Global Recognition

Belinda Ama Aflakpui, a highly respected figure in Ghana’s costume and makeup design industry, is making significant waves on the global stage. Recently, her outstanding work on the film “Coming To Africa: Welcome To Ghana” was honored at the African Film Festival held in Dallas, USA. Aflakpui, also known as Madam Ama Aflakpui, currently serves as a lecturer at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI).

Ama Aflakpui’s skills and passion for her craft are evident in her portfolio. Collaborating with renowned production houses such as Farmhouse Productions and Ad-visors, she has established herself as an adept costume and makeup designer. Her work on popular series like “YOLO” and “Stryke,” as well as commercials for notable brands such as MTN, Pepsodent, UMB, Malta Guinness, and GHACEM, have garnered widespread acclaim.

Recognition at the African Film Festival

“Coming To Africa: Welcome To Ghana,” her latest masterpiece, has received well-deserved recognition. The award-winning film is set to premiere on Friday, July 21st, 2023, at the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra. What sets Aflakpui apart is her attention to detail and dedication to creating the perfect designs.

A Multifaceted Career and Academic Pursuits

In addition to her professional achievements, Ama Aflakpui is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Theatre Arts, specializing in costume and makeup, at the Department of Theatre Arts, School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, Legon. Her unwavering commitment to her craft, combined with her exceptional talent, has propelled her to international recognition, placing Ghanaian costume and makeup design on the global map.

Throughout her career, Aflakpui has had the privilege of working with esteemed celebrities such as Lydia Forson, Roselyn Ngissah, Nana Ama Mcbrown, Nadia Buari, Naa Ashorkor, Zynnell Zuh, Jessica Larny, John Dumelo, Adjetey Annan, and many others. Her talent to make intricate costume and makeup designs has solidified her reputation as one of Ghana’s leading industry professionals.
