Ethiopia, Italy and Somalia Agree to Boost Trilateral Relationship

Ethiopia, Somalia, and Italy have agreed to strengthen their trilateral, diverse ties, after a meeting between the three countries in Ethiopia.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has spoken with both the president of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and his Italian colleague, Giorgia Meloni.

The leaders’ conversation was on how to improve their trilateral alliance.

Billene Seyoum, press secretary for the Prime Minister’s Office, told the media that the leaders had productive discussions regarding advancing bilateral and multilateral diplomacy.

PM Abiy Ahmed made clear throughout the conversation that Ethiopia will strive tirelessly to improve relations with other nations.

Additionally, he specifically discussed the topic of enhancing infrastructural and commercial ties between Ethiopia and Somalia.

Italy will work with other countries to build a road infrastructure that connects Ethiopia and Somalia, according to Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni.

On the other hand, the leaders have spoken about involving Italian businesses in a variety of economic ventures in Ethiopia and Somalia.

The Italian government would help Italian businesses making investments in Ethiopia, particularly in the agricultural, tourist, and renewable energy sectors, according to Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni.

The conversation also touched on the advantageous climate for investment generated in Somalia as a result of the nation’s relative calm.

According to Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, his administration would provide Italian businesses with all the assistance they need to invest in Ethiopia under advantageous terms.
