Date:

Svyat, a 12-year-old boy in Kyiv, Ukraine, has taken his passion for growing herbs and vegetables to the next level by creating his own urban farming business in his apartment. With parental permission, he grows onions, arugula, microgreens, dill, and various lettuces on his windowsill and sells them to residents of Kyiv and the surrounding region. Svyat’s success has garnered attention and admiration from people all over Ukraine.

A Young Entrepreneur in the Making

Svyat is a 6th grader at a local gymnasium. He created his own Telegram channel, named “Pod,” where he informs potential buyers about the prices and availability of his products. He is creative and innovative in the way he markets his products, making commercials that showcase the quality and freshness of his produce to entice customers to make a purchase.

He hopes to use the money he earns from selling his herbs and vegetables to fund his dream. His ambition is to create his own eco-farm, and he sees his urban farming business as a stepping stone to achieving that goal. Prices are affordable, with the average cost of a bunch of herbs being 15 hryvnias. His customers appreciate the quality and freshness of his produce, and they are happy to support a young entrepreneur.

Inspiring Others with His Success

Svyat’s success has not gone unnoticed. A post on Facebook by Olesia Ostafieva, co-founder of the Lysa Hora Witch Bar, brought attention to Svyat’s business, and he has gained nearly 1,500 subscribers on his Telegram channel since its launch on March 26th of this year. According to her, “Ukrainian children are able to get carried away, just like we did as children, but they have much more entrepreneurial and creative thinking.” People all over Ukraine are inspired by Svyat’s story, and he has become somewhat of a celebrity among young entrepreneurs. Svyat’s success has shown that age is not a barrier to success.
