Simplified logistics and new transport corridors, Mykola Solskyi presented new initiatives in Brussels

Date:

During a working trip to Brussels, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine met with the EU Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski and the Director General of the EC for Agriculture and Rural Development Wolfgang Butcher.

During the meeting the increase of Ukrainian agricultural products exports was discussed. The Minister of Agricultural Policy emphasized that Ukraine can expand exports under certain conditions, such as the simplified logistics procedure, the increase of number of European grain carriers, both for the railway and road, and the development of new routes.

Minister Solskyi offered support for European manufacturers of grain trucks by providing them with state subsidies. Such joint steps will restrain prices on the market of agricultural products.

“If this program works, I’m sure it will hold down prices and stop inflation. Simplified logistics will allow making grain transportation cheaper. These routes have a very high chance of becoming permanent, reshaping the market and encouraging better cooperation within Central Europe,” said Mykola Solskyi.

The Minister also emphasized the importance of building a pipeline for oil transportation from Ukraine to Poland.

“This pipeline will open up new opportunities for Poland and Ukraine. The more private businesses join in, the better,” said Mykola Solskyi.
