Abu Dhabi’s TII and NVIDIA Launch Middle East’s First Joint AI & Robotics Research Lab

Date:

The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), has partnered with NVIDIA to launch the Middle East’s first Joint Lab for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. Named the TII-NVAITC (NVIDIA AI Technology Center) Joint Lab, this collaboration creates a new hub for developing next-generation AI models, robotics platforms, and humanoid technologies. This landmark initiative is aligned with Abu Dhabi’s strategic goal of advancing technological sovereignty and solidifying the UAE’s role as a global leader in the fields of AI and robotics.

According to Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, the lab will combine TII’s advanced robotic platforms with NVIDIA’s powerful computing resources to accelerate the convergence of perception, control, and language. This will lay the foundation for a new era of intelligent machines with real-world applications.

The research will focus on advancing Physical AI through embodied AI models and state-of-the-art robotics and humanoid stacks, integrating large language models like TII’s Falcon family of AI models. This is the first NVAITC lab to be established in the Middle East, marking a significant milestone for regional technological advancement. The collaboration also underscores a commitment to open innovation and global knowledge exchange, as TII and NVIDIA will collaborate on open-source initiatives and cross-network learning.
