Egypt and Singapore Strengthen Technical Education Partnership

Date:

Egypt and Singapore have formalized a new agreement to enhance their cooperation in technical and vocational education, a move aimed at modernizing Egypt’s educational system and boosting the competitiveness of its graduates.

The partnership, signed at the Egypt-Singapore Economic Forum, is a key component of Egypt’s broader Vision 2030 sustainable development plan. The core objective is to align technical and vocational programs with global standards and the evolving needs of both local and international labor markets.

The newly signed protocol outlines several areas of collaboration, including infrastructure development, training for teachers and administrators, and initiatives for academic advancement and quality assurance. This partnership complements other ongoing reforms by the Egyptian government, such as the commitment to hire 30,000 teachers and integrate artificial intelligence and digital tools into the educational curriculum. During the forum, agreements were also reached in other critical sectors, including agriculture, health, maritime transport, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.

This expanded cooperation reflects the growing economic ties between the two nations; as of June 2024, Singapore’s investments in Egypt had reached approximately $700 million, spread across 129 companies. The collaboration in technical education is expected to be a cornerstone of a new era of strategic partnership, fostering human capital development and supporting Egypt’s long-term economic goals.
