Vladimir Putin Extends Rosh Hashanah Greetings to Russian Jews

Date:

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent his greetings to the Jewish community in Russia on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. In his message, Putin emphasized the holiday’s significance, describing it as a time for believers to embrace repentance, compassion, and lofty moral ideals.

These values, he noted, form the bedrock of all traditional religions and are a core part of the spiritual identity of Russia’s Jewish population. The message highlighted the careful preservation of their people’s history and ancient traditions as a source of spiritual strength for Jews in Russia today.

Putin’s message also underscored the significant role the Jewish community plays in the country’s broader development. He credited them with making important contributions to Russia’s progress and, crucially, to the strengthening of interethnic and interfaith harmony. The greeting reinforces the Kremlin’s public stance of promoting religious and cultural pluralism within the multi-ethnic Russian Federation.

As the Jewish community celebrates the start of the new year, the message serves as a gesture of respect and a recognition of the community’s valued place in Russian society. It also reflects a broader context of Russia’s diplomatic and cultural outreach to global Jewish communities.
