Saudi Arabia Declares September 23 a Public Holiday for 95th National Day

Date:

Saudi Arabia has announced Tuesday, September 23, 2025, as a public holiday to celebrate its 95th National Day. The day commemorates the 1932 unification of the Kingdom under King Abdulaziz, a pivotal moment that marked the founding of the modern Saudi state. Celebrations nationwide will include cultural performances, fireworks, and air shows, reflecting the Kingdom’s pride, heritage, and ongoing transformation under Vision 2030.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) confirmed that the holiday will be observed across both public and private sectors, unless otherwise stated. National Day provides residents with an opportunity to spend time with family, enjoy short trips, and participate in festivities across the country. The annual observance, fixed on September 23, was officially declared a public holiday in 2005 by King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, adding to Saudi Arabia’s calendar of national celebrations alongside Saudi Founding Day and Saudi Flag Day.

While Saudi Founding Day celebrates the establishment of the first Saudi state in the 18th century, National Day specifically honors the unification of the regions of Nejd and Hejaz in 1932 and the proclamation of the modern Kingdom. The holiday underscores Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural identity, national unity, and continued efforts to advance social and economic development in line with the Vision 2030 goals.
