BRICS Is Not An Association That Is Trying To Replace The UN, Kremlin Spokesman Says

Date:

Ahead of the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified the organization’s role on the global stage, emphasizing its complementary nature to the United Nations (UN).

Peskov stated that the BRICS association does not contradict the UN’s universal character but rather enhances it.

In his remarks, Peskov highlighted several key aspects of the BRICS framework:

  • Attractiveness to Many Countries: The BRICS format resonates with many nations due to its focus on shared interests, fostering collaboration without the imposition of conditions.
  • Summit Expectations: The upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan will be organized at a high level, aligning with the importance of the event, which is now considered one of the most significant international gatherings.
  • Rising Global Interest: Peskov noted that countries, including Serbia, are increasingly interested in BRICS, particularly as the European Union continues to set conditions for Belgrade.
  • Mutual Respect at the Core: Unlike other international groupings, BRICS does not impose conditions on its members. Instead, it is based on mutual respect, focusing on addressing each other’s concerns and interests.

The BRICS summit in Kazan promises to be a defining moment in the international arena, as more countries turn their attention to the bloc’s approach to global cooperation.
