Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain urges ECOWAS member states to open market to Spanish investors

Date:

Mr Mohammad Adam, Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain, has asked the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to expand its partnership to Spanish investors.

He has emphasized the need for ECOWAS to consider a business forum under the umbrella of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) to allow business investors to join and share their experiences and investment plans with the community.

“This could be of immense benefits to the organisation in terms of its quest to maintain peace, economic stability and security in the sub-region,” said Mr Mohammad Adam.

Mr Adam stated this during the interaction session with the Diplomatic Corps of Africa in Spain and the ECOWAS leadership at the just concluded Spain-ECOWAS conference in Madrid, Spain.

The conference aimed to deepen the two countries’ current bilateral contacts as part of the “Focus Africa 2023 Plan.”

Mr Adam stated that enterprises operating in Africa, notably West Africa, may achieve greater success if their collaboration scope was expanded.

“This business world in Spain when given the opportunity could provide needful tools to support the ECOWAS region and its agencies by increasing investments, jobs, shelter, commerce, social amenities and providing more to the economic sustainability mechanisms for the millions of inhabitants in the community,” he added.

Mr Adam praised the ECOWAS leadership and its new administration for their tireless work and suggested that they bring on board more well-meaning persons and organizations eager to help the sub-region’s mission of guaranteeing stability and boosting investment.

José Manuel Albares Bueno, Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, reaffirmed the commitment of Spain’s unwavering support to achieve the effective execution of its main strategic initiatives.
