Yaoundé’s Sports Walk Draws Crowds, promoting healthy lifestyle

Cameroonians from all layers of society gathered in Yaoundé on April 5, 2023, to celebrate the 10th International Day of Sport for Development and Peace with a sports walk. Over 300 participants gathered on May 20 Boulevard in the center of town, which was the starting point for the walk. The event was organized by the Ministry of Sport and Physical Education in collaboration with UNESCO, to highlight the importance of sports in human life and society.

The Sports Walk Draws Crowds

The athletic march drew crowds, with many Yaoundé residents joining the walk along the way before the marchers reached the Yaoundé Multipurpose Sports Complex in the Warda district, which was the point of arrival. The participants carried messages about the importance of sports in human life and society. Sport walk lasted for two hours.

Importance of sports and physical activity

The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Muel Comby, congratulated the organizers for their efforts in making the event a success. He emphasized that the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, pays great attention to the development of sports and physical activity in the country, and that is why he created great infrastructure designed for sports.
