Zipline Aims to Complete One Million Deliveries by End of 2023

Date:

Zipline has unveiled its new autonomous delivery platform that provides fast and precise delivery directly to homes in cities and suburbs. The company’s drones, known as Zips, fly more than 300 feet above the ground and are almost inaudible, designed to sound like wind rustling leaves. Zipline’s new technology, Platform 2 (P2), is expected to complete 10-mile deliveries in about 10 minutes, up to seven times faster than traditional automobile delivery.

Quiet and Fast Delivery

Unlike other drone delivery services, Zipline’s fully autonomous delivery droid maneuvers down a tether, steers to the correct location, and gently drops off packages to areas as small as a patio table or the front steps of a home. Zipline’s docking and charging hardware can be attached to any building or set up as a freestanding structure, making it easy for businesses to use the platform. Customers can order on-demand or schedule the exact time they’d like their package to arrive down to the second.

Partnerships and Customers

Sweetgreen is partnering with Zipline to offer home delivery and achieve its pledge to be carbon-neutral by 2027. Michigan Medicine, Intermountain Health, and MultiCare Health System plan to use Zipline’s new platform to deliver prescriptions and medical devices throughout their facilities.

Zipline expects to complete about one million deliveries by the end of 2023 and operate more flights annually than most airlines by 2025. Keller Rinaudo Cliffton, co-founder and CEO of Zipline, said that “We have built the closest thing to teleportation ever created – a smooth, ultrafast, convenient, and truly magical autonomous logistics system that serves all people equally, wherever they are.” The new platform is changing the delivery industry by making deliveries work for customers.

Zipline’s technology is expected to be a game-changer in the industry, offering a convenient and eco-friendly alternative to traditional delivery methods.
