Ukrainian Chief Director Tamara Trunova stages her play “Blogi keliai” in Lithuania

Date:

Kyiv Drama and Comedy Theater Chief Director, Tamara Trunova, has successfully premiered her latest play “Blogi keliai” (“Bad Roads”) at the Alytus City Theater in Lithuania on March 25th. The play tells the story of war in the Donbas region in 2014, based on a play by Natalka Vorozhbyt. The Lithuanian actors and crew worked together with Trunova in close interaction to realize the same text for the second time, resulting in a new interpretation of the play.

Positive Interaction Between Lithuanian Actors and Crew

Trunova expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to work with Lithuanian actors and the audience, stating that the play was born from conversations, tears, and mutual interest. The director finds creating a play for the second time, in a new context, time and in a completely new way both restless and exciting. The entire staff of the Alytus City Theater, Inessa Pilvelite, Ksenia Romashenko, and Lithuania received gratitude from the director for their contributions.

Award-winning Play

This is a significant achievement, as the Shevchenko Prize is one of Ukraine’s most prestigious awards, awarded to those who make significant contributions to the country’s artistic and intellectual heritage. The award further highlights the importance in telling about the war in Donbas, providing a platform for discussion and understanding of the events that occurred.

Ealier Tamara Trunova has won the Les Kurbas Prize for her direction of N. McCartney’s play, “Home.” The committee, headed by Serhiy Vasyliev, commended Trunova’s mastery of stage space and ability to create a deeply psychological and dramatic story. The Les Kurbas Prize recognizes the significant contributions of professional theater directors to contemporary theater in Ukraine.
