Sustainability and Innovation

The Green Product Award is an international competition that annually recognizes products and concepts that stand out in terms of sustainability, innovation, and design. This year, over 1,300 applications were submitted from participants across 40 countries. Out of 200 nominated products in the Fashion category, Ukrainian brand DevoHome emerged as the winner. The brand’s hemp fur coats impressed the jury for their unique combination of sustainability, functionality, and style.

Unlike traditional fur coats, these fur coats are made from hemp fiber. Hemp is a durable and biodegradable material that grows without the use of herbicides and pesticides. It is also resistant to pests, hypoallergenic, and provides excellent temperature regulation and air circulation. By using hemp fiber instead of animal fur, DevoHome is promoting a sustainable and ethical alternative to the fashion industry’s traditional practices.

DevoHome’s founder, Oksana Devo, emphasized that the brand’s hemp fur coats are the first of their kind in the world. The coats are made from nonwoven hemp fiber, which is a substitute for natural and eco-fur. The production of these coats has been consciously designed to restore the traditional Ukrainian production of hemp textiles. This sustainable approach to fashion production ensures that all involved in the production process are respected and cared for.

Positive Impact

Using of hemp fiber in their fur coats has several positive impacts on the environment and society. Hemp fiber is also biodegradable and does not require harsh chemicals to produce, making it an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic materials.

This award demonstrates that sustainability and style can go hand in hand. The brand’s innovative use of hemp fiber has put Ukraine on the map for conscious design and consumption. By promoting a more sustainable and ethical approach to fashion, Ukrainian brand is inspiring other brands to follow suit and contribute to a better future for the planet.
