Date:

Therefore, the Cabinet of Ministers will provide humanitarian assistance.

Ukraine will provide humanitarian aid to Ethiopia and Somalia, despite the war with the Russian Federation. The Cabinet of Ministers will send 50,000 tons of wheat to African countries.

This is stated in the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 1040 of September 16, 2022.

In addition, grain belonging to the National Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine will be sent as humanitarian aid. The company will reimburse the cost of 420 million hryvnia of grain from the reserve fund of the state budget.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet agreed with the UN on the issue of delivery and payment for the transportation of cargo from the Odessa commercial port to these countries at the expense of international organizations.

As previously reported, on July 22, 2022, an agreement was signed in Istanbul to unblock the Odessa, Black Sea and Pivden ports of Ukraine for the export of agricultural products, including grain.

On August 1, as part of the implementation of the agreement, the first ship “RAZONI” under the flag of Sierra Leone left the port of Odessa. The ship was carrying 26,000 tons of Ukrainian corn to the port of Tripoli, Lebanon.

On August 5, the first caravans of ships with Ukrainian grain left the large port of Odessa: NAVI STAR, ROJEN and POLARNET – three bulk carriers carrying 57,000 tons of Ukrainian corn to Turkey, England and Ireland.

On August 17, a record caravan of five ships left the Ukrainian grain corridor.

On August 31, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that more than 1.5 million tons of Ukrainian food had already been exported by sea.
