Ukraine has received 500 thousand doses of vaccine from Pfizer against Omicron

The Swedish government has donated over 500 thousand doses of Comirnaty Original/Ovicron BA.1 vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech, which was developed specifically against the headquarters of the Omicron Coronor and its variants.

It is reported by the Ministry of Health.

The vaccine provided by Sweden is intended for booster vaccination of those who already have the initial vaccination course from COVID-19.

The drug has already been exported to most regions of Ukraine, in particular 23 thousand doses have been delivered to Ternopil, Rivne, Khmelnytsky and Zhytomyr regions, 40 thousand in Dnipropetrovsk, 34,5 thousand in Vinnytsia, 20 thousand in Sumy, 17 thousand in Ivano-Frankivsk, 11,5 thousand in Mykolayiv, 8,6 thousand in Odesa, 5,7 thousand in Donetsk region.

“Even in extremely difficult conditions of war, we continue to vaccinate Ukrainians against COVID-19 and thank the Swedish government for its assistance. Thanks to you, Ukraine has become one of the first countries in the world outside the EU to receive the updated vaccine. From now on, more Ukrainians will be able to protect themselves from the severe course and complications of coronerous disease,” said Ihor Kuzin, Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine.

Comirnaty Original/Ovicron BA.1 is an updated version of Comirnaty vaccine from the American Pfizer and the German firm BioNTech, adapted specifically to defend against the headquarters of the SARS-CoV-2 coronarus.

Comirnaty Original/Ovicron BA.1 is intended only for people who have already received the initial vaccination against COVID-19 with any other vaccine. In Ukraine, the vaccine will be used for the first and second booster vaccinations of people aged 18 years or older.

The Ministry of Health reminds that in Ukraine the primary course of vaccination against coronary heart disease consists of two doses of the Comirnaty vaccine from Pfizer or CoronaVac from Sinovac, or one dose of the Janssen vaccine from Johnson & Johnson.

To strengthen and extend protection against severe disease, 5 months after the primary course, all minors should be vaccinated with any available vaccine against COVID-19.

The second booster is recommended to elderly people and people with chronic diseases in any of the available vaccines 4 months after the first one. All other groups of Ukrainians can also get a second booster vaccination.
