UDP starts cooperation with ferry complex Orlovka-Isakcha

Date:

Ferry complex “Orlovka – Isakča” is located on the border of Ukraine and Romania. UDP starts cooperation with this ferry complex, this was reported by the general director of the enterprise Dmitry Moskalenko.

Orlovka is an additional flow of cargo, and new opportunities are needed to increase traffic. Local trans-shipment is not yet overloaded, making it much easier for cargo owners.

In addition, according to Moskalenko, the river fleet is a priority here, for many other loading points, priority is given to maritime vessels. He pointed out that currently 90 percent of traffic through the “Orlovka” crossing point was containerized road transport to Constanta, as there were only 145 km from there to the largest Romanian port.

“I hope that the cooperation of the new port and UDP will be long and successful!” added the head of the shipping company.

Also Moskalenko noted that last year “Orlovka – Isakcha” turned into a cargo terminal, a river and sea hub, a new point of loading and unloading of ships and barges. The ferry has been operating as a port for several months. At the end of last year in “Orlovka” was organized a transhipment complex, which already works successfully.

The complex was put into operation in the second half of September 2022. During this time, more than 50 thousand tons of cargo were transferred from river and sea vessels.

According to Moskalenko, the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of November 11, 2022 to expand the area of the Reni Port concerned the inclusion of this trans-shipment complex.

The owners of “Orlovka” have a direct contract with “Delta-Pilot” for the establishment of vessels from the Fast, direct contract with AMPU for operation and agent. ” Currently, an application for the status of a sea terminal is submitted,” said Moskalenko.

The Director General of UDP noted that the volume of investments is more than 2 million dollars. Construction of the young port continues:  the construction of large warehouses for 15,000 tons of disposable cargo storage has started.

On the contrary, through the Danube, Romania is building the port of Isakcha, where a large universal sea terminal will be located.  ” Thus, there will be a unique infrastructure facility in which two ports of the two countries are located opposite each other”, – said the Director General of UDP.

The head of the shipping company summarized that this would make it possible to unload the checkpoints, as today many grain trucks are forced to queue at checkpoints.
