The farmer from the Dnipropetrovsk region Alla Danilova is engaged in the cultivation of tropical yam, which is then processed into flour, from which natural snacks – chips and bread are produced. Such news came from the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnepropetrovsk region.
Alla Danilova has been engaged in agriculture for 16 years. However, she did not grow sweet potatoes before, as at first her family did not appreciate the taste or benefits of this crop. But subsequently, Alla Danilova allocated for this crop a separate plot with a drip irrigation system, because the farmer was interested in a high yield of this crop. So she hopes to succeed in this business.
“In tropical countries, sweet potatoes grow all year round. They dig when necessary. We dig it immediately, as soon as the plant is frozen,” says Alla Danilova.
Tropical yam, as the farmer noted, is known as the “fruit of longevity” because of its health benefits. There is a large amount of vitamins in this product: vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B, also the sweet potato contains folic acid, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium.
Tropical yam has a general strengthening effect on the body, it is useful in colds, chronic fatigue, insomnia, stress and viral diseases, as it increases immunity. In addition, sweet potatoes stimulate liver and kidney activity, restore vascular elasticity and even have anti-cancer effects. In addition, this product normalizes metabolism, reduces the level of «bad» cholesterol and removes heavy metals from the body.
Therefore, the farmer proposes to use dried sweet potatoes for the first dishes, and the farmer also advises stewing sweet potato with other vegetables, using it for cooking salads, as well as using it as an independent product. In the “Workshop of useful treats” is held grinding sweet potatoes into flour, from which bread and focaccia are produced. The manufacturer also has a wide range of flour: purple, yellow, white and orange flour. Its price is 200 – 500 UAH/kg. Sweet potato flour can be used as an alternative to wheat flour because it is gluten-free, which means it can be a useful alternative.
