Surprise Release: AI Technology Revives John Lennon’s Voice in Beatles’ ‘Final’ Song

Date:

The legendary band, The Beatles, is set to astound fans with a remarkable musical masterpiece, which will feature their “last song” with the late John Lennon. Employing cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the band extracted Lennon’s voice from an old demo to incorporate it into a new song scheduled for release this year.

The Beatles’ Final Song with John Lennon’s Voice Created Using AI

In an interview with the BBC, Paul McCartney revealed the innovative process behind the creation of the Beatles’ final song. Utilizing AI, McCartney “extracted” Lennon’s voice from a demo recording of the song “Now And Then,” originally composed by Lennon in 1978. The demo had been part of a cassette tape labeled “For Paul,” containing numerous recordings Lennon made in his New York apartment.

The inspiration for this extraordinary project arose during the collaboration with director Peter Jackson on the documentary “Get Back” in 2021. The film chronicles the Beatles’ journey in creating their album “Let It Be.” Jackson’s team trained computers to isolate individual band members’ voices from background noise and instruments, resulting in pristine audio quality.

AI Technology and Collaboration Bring Lennon’s Voice Back to Life

McCartney explained that the breakthrough occurred when Jackson successfully “extracted” Lennon’s voice from a tape of subpar quality, effectively unlocking the project’s potential. By using AI, the team separated Lennon’s voice from the accompanying guitar, enabling them to incorporate it seamlessly into the final composition alongside their own voices and music.

The Beatles’ last song carries deep emotional significance, as McCartney expressed during the interview. He invited Ringo Starr, George Harrison, and his son Danny Harrison to join the project.

Scheduled for release in September 2023 as part of the album “The Beatles: Get Back,” accompanying Peter Jackson’s movie, the song remains untitled. McCartney considers it a heartfelt “gift” to loyal Beatles fans who have long awaited new music from the iconic band. The powerful presence of Lennon’s voice in the studio during the song’s creation evoked a sense that he was still with them.

This final song marks a momentous chapter in Beatles’ legacy, showcasing the enduring impact of their music and the innovative use of AI technology in preserving and celebrating the band’s timeless sound.
