Tanzania’s football heavyweights, Simba SC and Young Africans (Yanga), are gearing up for decisive CAF encounters in Algeria this weekend. Representing the nation in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, both clubs are focused on securing vital points to bolster their campaigns.
Yanga Faces MC Alger in CAF Champions League
Yanga, Tanzania’s CAF Champions League representative, departed for Algeria early Tuesday to prepare for their Group A clash against MC Alger. The match is scheduled for December 7, 10:00 PM East Africa Time, at the Ali La Pointe Stadium in Douera.
Despite a challenging start, marked by a 2-0 defeat to Sudanese side Al Hilal, Yanga is determined to turn the tide. The team will benefit from the return of key players, including striker Clement Mzize and midfielder Khalid Aucho.
Yanga’s traveling squad boasts a robust lineup, featuring goalkeepers Djigui Diarra and Abutwalib Mshery, defenders like Bakari Mwamnyeto and Kibwana Shomary, and a midfield powered by Clatous Chama and Aziz Ki. Their forward line includes Prince Dube, Kenedy Musonda, and Jean Baleke, making for a formidable roster.
Simba Takes on CS Constantine in CAF Confederation Cup
Simba SC, competing in the CAF Confederation Cup, is set to face CS Constantine on December 8 at Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui in Algiers. Both teams currently lead Group A with three points each, after Simba’s 1-0 win over Bravos do Maquis and CS Constantine’s 1-0 victory against CS Sfaxien.
Simba’s Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally, expressed the team’s ambitions:
“Our objective is to win, but a draw would also be a positive result. We want to keep our fans motivated.”
With intense training focusing on coordination and tactical discipline, Simba aims to maintain their recent upward trajectory in domestic and international football.
Tanzania’s Clubs Flying the Continental Flag
Both Yanga and Simba are determined to make their mark in these prestigious African tournaments. Their success will not only elevate Tanzanian football but also inspire fans across the nation.
