Qatar’s Expertise Guides Morocco in 2030 World Cup Preparation

Date:

Qatar’s success in hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup continues to set benchmarks, as its Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) shares valuable insights with Morocco in preparation for the 2030 tournament. A high-level delegation from Qatar recently met with Moroccan officials in Marrakech to discuss best practices for hosting a world-class event.

Held during the Qatar Africa Business Forum and the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, the meeting aimed to support Morocco, which will co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. The event highlighted Qatar’s commitment to fostering regional collaboration and empowering Arab and African nations to excel on the global stage.

Key Lessons from Qatar 2022

Ghanim al-Kuwari, SC’s Deputy Director General for Technical Services, emphasized the significance of Qatar’s role as a regional pioneer in hosting international tournaments.

“Our vision for the FIFA World Cup was to represent not only Qatar but also the Arab world and the broader MENA region,” said al-Kuwari. “We’re proud to share our experience and help ensure Morocco’s 2030 tournament is equally historic.”

The session covered essential aspects of preparation, including:

  • Operational Logistics: Effective event management strategies.
  • Workforce and Volunteer Management: Building and training a capable team.
  • Infrastructure Development: Creating sustainable and state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Legislative Frameworks: Implementing robust policies to ensure smooth operations.

These insights provide Morocco with a comprehensive roadmap as it prepares to host the first-ever FIFA World Cup in North Africa and the second in the Arab world.

Morocco’s Collaborative Approach

Moroccan officials, including representatives from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the Morocco 2030 bid team, expressed gratitude for Qatar’s transparency and willingness to collaborate.

Mouad Hajji, General Coordinator for the bid team, praised Qatar’s efforts:

“We are deeply grateful for this enlightening session on what is recognised as the best FIFA World Cup in history. Qatar’s ability to overcome challenges and deliver an extraordinary experience provides us with a valuable roadmap for our journey toward 2030.”

As the tournament approaches, Morocco aims to incorporate these lessons to deliver a seamless and memorable experience across its host cities.

A Vision for Regional Excellence

The FIFA World Cup 2030 will feature 20 host cities across Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, promising to showcase the rich cultural and geographic diversity of the region. With Qatar’s guidance and Morocco’s dedication, the 2030 tournament is set to make history as a symbol of collaboration and innovation.
