Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has credited his team’s self-belief and determination for their impressive victory over Aduana Stars at the challenging Nana Agyemang Badu II Park in Dormaa.
After the match, Ogum dispelled the notion that tactical planning was the decisive factor in the hard-fought 1-0 win. Instead, he emphasized his players’ mental toughness and composure as the keys to success.
“It’s about self-confidence, it’s about determination. Playing in Dormaa has nothing to do with tactics,” Coach Ogum said. “It has something to do with the team’s confidence, the team’s determination, the team, the aggression of the team, and I think the team’s calmness.”
The coach praised his squad’s composed approach, noting that maintaining calmness in such a high-pressure environment was crucial.
“If you look at how we played, we were very calm because I know the venue to be an aggressive venue, and if you come aggressively, it wouldn’t help,” Ogum explained.
This win marks the end of a four-game winless streak for the Porcupine Warriors in the Ghana Premier League, reigniting their confidence and providing a morale boost ahead of their upcoming fixtures. With renewed momentum, Coach Ogum and his team aim to continue their push for success this season.
