Programs to stimulate employment growth will be expanded

Date:

The Ministry of Economy is initiating the expansion of employment promotion programmes to address unemployment, including among vulnerable groups. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko during the presentation of the project “Work without barriers” within the framework of the initiative of First Lady Elena Zelenskaya “Without barriers”.

“The objective of the project “Work without barriers” is to facilitate access to work as much as possible for the most vulnerable groups of Ukrainians, in particular persons with disabilities, veterans, young people without work experience and internally displaced persons. Today, 40 per cent of the unemployed are such people and may face barriers in accessing decent work. Therefore, we are expanding employment promotion programs to help all who want to work and contribute to the reconstruction and development of our country,” – said Yulia Sviridenko.

According to her, a clear path and opportunities for a person seeking to realize his right to decent work have already been developed and are working. First of all, she can register as unemployed with the Public Employment Service, in particular through the Action, and receive vocational guidance and job search services. If he needs additional skills, he can undergo retraining and further training in NHS-related institutions, including the NHS Vocational Training Centres. You can also use another option for re-qualification – to get a voucher for training in 70 professions and specialties.

In addition, Ukrainians with entrepreneurial ability can receive financial support from the State in the form of grants. Introduced by the Government last year, the grant program “Own business” continues to operate, and behind it you can get up to 250 thousand. UAH to start and develop your business.

“We understand that we must actively prepare for the integration of veterans into the labor market and entrepreneurship. Therefore, from April 1, 2023 we introduce additional grant programs – for veterans and second spouse, as well as veteran business. We are simplifying the conditions of access of veterans to the market of security services, corresponding amendments to the legislation will be introduced in March. We will introduce subsidized jobs for persons with disabilities – we will financially encourage employers to hire such people,” Yulia Sviridenko said.

In particular, it is assumed that from April 1 under the grant program “Own business” veterans will be able to receive a grant for business development up to UAH 250 thousand, the second of spouses veteran – a grant up to UAH 500 thousand, consortium of veterans – a grant up to UAH 1 million.

Also from April 1, together with the Ministry of Information and Communication, it is planned to launch a grant program “Start in IT”, according to which it will be possible to receive a grant for training in the field of information technology.
