Brazilian football star Neymar could potentially return to the field as early as October 21, according to sources close to ESPN Brasil. The 32-year-old has been on the sidelines for a year due to a serious knee injury.
Neymar, who currently plays for Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, has been out of action for nearly a year after suffering a torn ACL and meniscus in his left knee during international duty with Brazil.
His injury, which required surgery, sidelined him from both club and international competitions.
On September 29, Neymar resumed training with Al Hilal, raising hopes that he could feature in their upcoming Asian Champions League clash against Al Ain.
However, the final decision rests with Al Hilal’s head coach Jorge Jesus. In addition, Neymar’s return is contingent on the approval of Brazil’s national team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, who performed the surgery and is expected to assess his fitness in the coming days.
Neymar’s return is eagerly anticipated, not only by his club but also by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), which is closely monitoring his recovery.
The Brazilian FA are hopeful that Neymar will be fully fit and available for Brazil’s World Cup qualifying matches in November against Venezuela and Uruguay.
Having joined Al Hilal in August 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar played only five games before the injury. Now, fans are eagerly waiting for his comeback, which could be just around the corner.
