The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine together with the Council of International Scientific Research and exchanges (IREX) and the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security held a meeting with communication departments of regional military administrations.
Within the framework of the meeting for communication to OVA, the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security provided recommendations on how to effectively conduct communications during the war, as well as the work of the National Mediation Project “Filter” was presented.
The event was held within the framework of the program for civil servants and representatives of local self-government bodies “Strengthening the stability to harmful information influence during the war”, implemented by IREX with the support of the Embassy of the United Kingdom within the framework of the project “Vivchay and distinguish: Info-media literacy”.
“This program is extremely important and interesting, as these topics for MCIP are indisputable priorities in our work. These are the activities of the National Media Literacy Project, the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security, and general assessments of what is happening in Ukraine. In particular, presentation of the results of the study “How the media consumption of Ukrainians during the war changed”. As in the Ministry and at the level of regional administrations, we should not only “extinguish fires”, but also understand the trends in how citizens consume media and what dynamics during the war,” said Taras Shevchenko, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy.
The study “How did the Ukrainian media survive during the war?”, implemented by the sociological company InfoSapiens with the support of the British Embassy in Ukraine, was also presented. The survey was conducted by online users, a sample of 1000 interviews.
Two-thirds of respondents call short text messages (as an example – Telegram) the most convenient format, a little more than half of respondents call short video and 42% call news on Internet-publications sites. In general, 90% of respondents will cover these formats.
As for the sources of information that Ukrainians have started to use, the major dynamics have been shown by sites or pages in the social networks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (51%), local and regional pablies and channels in messengers (Viber, Telegram, WhatsApp) – 37%, and also sites or pages in the social networks of central/local authorities – 36/35%.
Significant dynamics of trust show sites or pages in the social networks of the Armed Forces and the Presidential Office – 25% and 24% respectively, as well as national TV channels and local regional groups/channels.
In general, as for consumption of news in social networks, the most confidence of Ukrainians has increased to Telegram – 51%. Facebook (24%) YouTube (26%) Twitter (20%) and TikTok (19%) also included in the fifth match.
