The purpose is to raise funds for life-saving surgeries for children with congenital heart defects. With unwavering determination, the club’s 30 members successfully completed the ride.

Changing Lives: Impact in Tanzania

Recently, the H&K Cycle Club journeyed to Tanzania to witness the impact of their fundraising efforts firsthand. Collaborating with the charity Muntada Aid and their Little Hearts project, the club raised £128,000, which was used to provide surgeries for 60 children at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Dar es Salaam.

The H&K Cycle Club’s intervention brought a team of 16 pediatric heart specialists from Turkey, Egypt, and Holland to the institute, who volunteered their expertise and tirelessly worked for over 12 hours each day. They performed numerous cardiac catheterizations and open-heart surgeries, while also providing valuable training to local clinicians. This collaboration and knowledge transfer are crucial for the institute’s development.

The executive director of the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute expressed heartfelt gratitude for the assistance. The surgeries funded by the H&K Cycle Club and facilitated by Muntada Aid brought hope and transformed the lives of 60 children, giving them the chance to live healthier, more fulfilling lives.

The H&K Cycle Club’s tackled extreme weather conditions during the challenging ride. Overcoming scorching heat, relentless winds, and sandstorms, the participants completed the three-day journey, showcasing their determination and physical prowess.

The H&K Cycle Club has a rich history of organizing charity rides and supporting various projects worldwide. Established in 2013, the club has raised over a million pounds through their cycling endeavors. While not registered as a charity, the club’s efforts have made a significant impact, often receiving individual donations exceeding £100,000.

The club’s success extends beyond fundraising, as it fosters inclusivity and camaraderie among its diverse members. With over 165 cyclers from different backgrounds participating in their national ride, the H&K Cycle Club inspires others to enjoy cycling and help people.
