Kenyan youth in the innovation and startup ecosystem have been urged to harness opportunities presented by global partnerships to transform their ideas into successful business ventures. Latitude59, Estonia’s flagship startup and tech event, held its second satellite edition in Nairobi, underscoring the importance of global collaboration in driving innovation.

Empowering Kenyan Startups Through Collaboration

During the event, Emmanuel Kata Kimeu, Secretary of ICT – Security and Audit Control at the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, highlighted the crucial role of youth in Kenya’s economic growth and the government’s digitalization agenda. He acknowledged the support from the Estonian delegation and emphasized that such events equip young innovators with tools, networks, and inspiration to turn their ideas into impactful enterprises.

“This event in Nairobi reinforces Kenya’s position as a globally preferred destination for startups. Latitude59 supports the growth, impact, and recognition of the local startup ecosystem,” said Kimeu.

Fostering Global Connections for Startups

Latitude59 attracted over 2,000 participants this year, doubling its attendance from the inaugural event. It served as a bridge between the Kenyan and Estonian startup ecosystems, fostering the exchange of ideas and collaborative opportunities. CEO of Latitude59, Liisi Org, urged startups to prioritize sustainability and position themselves strategically to attract investors.

“Kenya has immense potential to become the next global startup hub. With over 55 million people and unique societal challenges, the country offers fertile ground for innovative solutions that resonate globally,” noted Org.
