Japanese company introduces new sound-absorbing material at Orgatec Tokyo 2023

Date:

Nomura Co., Ltd. has announced a partnership agreement with Pixie Dust Technologies Co., Ltd. (PxDT), a company that is committed to solving social issues through technological innovation. The collaboration will see Nomura leverage its expertise in interior design and construction to support PxDT’s latest innovation, a transparent sound-absorbing material called “iwasemi RC-α.”

New Sound-Absorbing Material to Address Acoustics and Sustainability Issues

PxDT’s “iwasemi RC-α” is a new sound-absorbing material that harmonizes with glass and is made from plant-derived bioengineering plastics, which reduces its environmental impact. The material can be cut into a rectangular shape to create various layout patterns, and it has achieved high transparency that blends well with glass. The innovative product uses acoustic metamaterial technology to reduce sound reverberations in a space, providing a solution to sound environment problems.

Nomura to Provide Design and Installation Support

Nomura will provide design support to PxDT, taking into account the economic dimensions, textures, and details of joints that will be installed. The company will also leverage its experience to ensure proper installation of the sound-absorbing material. Nomura will actively propose “iwasemi RC-α” to its clients, along with improving the sound environment in the space.

International Launch at Orgatec Tokyo 2023

The product will be unveiled at the international trade show “Orgatec Tokyo 2023,” scheduled for April 26th to 28th. The product is expected to be released in May 2023, marking a significant milestone in addressing both acoustics and sustainability issues in the interior design industry.

Nomura’s partnership with PxDT will be a significant step towards creating a more sustainable and sound-friendly environment. The introduction of “iwasemi RC-α” will enable the design and construction industry to make substantial progress in acoustic innovation and sustainable practices. The collaboration will pave the way for more companies to focus on developing solutions to address sustainability issues while also promoting innovation.
