Idris Elba is set to star in, produce and direct the upcoming action-thriller film, Infernus. Millennium Media will produce the film and present it at the Cannes market. Elba will play the role of Donovan Kamara, a U.N. human rights activist sent to investigate reports of refugees being illegally detained inside a U.S. black site prison.

In Infernus, Kamara’s seemingly simple task turns deadly when the world’s most dangerous inmates break free. Kamara must work to safely extricate the refugees, all while going head-to-head with a brilliant criminal mastermind. The story is based on a screenplay by Robert Mark Kamen and a story by Tom Boyle.
Production and Filming
The film will go into production on October 9th in London, with additional principal photography taking place in the new TD Akuna Studios in Ghana. Elba has both Ghanaian and Sierre Leonean lineage and is proud to support Africa’s emerging film community.
Elba’s Second Directorial Venture
Infernus marks Elba’s second film as a director, following his 2018 feature, Yardie, which premiered at Sundance. “I’m excited to be back in the director’s chair, partnering with Millennium Media.
