The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) and the Al Rostamani Group officially inaugurated new world-class training and agricultural-research facilities at ICBA’s headquarters in Dubai. These state-of-the-art facilities, which were fully funded by the Al Rostamani Group, represent a major public-private sector milestone in the UAE’s ongoing efforts to achieve its National Food Security Strategy 2051 and enhance climate resilience in arid environments. The inauguration was attended by H.E. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
The new infrastructure includes three key components: a dedicated Training and Knowledge Transfer Building capable of accommodating up to 300 participants; an advanced Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory for developing and propagating key plant species like date palms and mangroves; and an Integrated Agri-Aquaculture System for applied research on sustainable food production and efficient water use. These facilities will serve as a hub for collaboration among farmers, researchers, policymakers, and private sector partners, both locally and internationally.
This catalytic investment underscores the UAE’s strategic commitment to boosting its investment in agri-science, biotech, and advanced farming to overcome desert constraints. ICBA specializes in pioneering science-driven solutions to enable crops to thrive in saline and arid environments, directly supporting the UAE’s transition toward sustainable, knowledge-based agriculture.
