Date:

Buenos Aires, Argentina – Geoff Payne, father of late One Direction star Liam Payne, made a final emotional visit to the site of his son’s tragic death in Buenos Aires before returning to the UK.

Payne, 31, passed away last month after reportedly falling from the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, where fans have since created a heartfelt memorial in his honour.

The memorial, set up outside the hotel, features a tree trunk adorned with flowers, photos, and notes from fans paying their respects to the beloved singer. Geoff Payne, who arrived in Buenos Aires shortly after the news of his son’s death, visited the site once more on Tuesday, November 5, to observe the tributes left by fans.

Witnesses reported seeing him pause by the memorial, where he shared moments of grief with fans, some of whom handed him a candle, which he left at the foot of the tribute.

According to South American news outlet Infobae, Geoff Payne also made a private visit to the cemetery where Liam’s body was being kept, accompanied by security personnel.

The star’s body was recently moved to the British Cemetery in Buenos Aires before being prepared for transport back to the UK.

Liam’s body departed Buenos Aires on Wednesday, November 6, on a flight scheduled at 1:58 pm local time, as reported by the Buenos Aires Times.

Footage from Ezeiza International Airport shows Geoff at the terminal before boarding his flight, somberly preparing to bring his son home.

While official details about Liam’s funeral remain confidential, reports indicate it will likely attract many attendees.

A source revealed to RadarOnline.com that Payne’s funeral is expected to be attended by close friends, family, and several A-list figures from the entertainment industry.

“Liam’s family wants to keep his farewell low-key and respectful, as it aligns with his down-to-earth nature,” the insider said.

The source also mentioned that the service might feature tributes from several artists, honoring Payne’s deep passion for music.

“There are going to be a series of song tributes from some very big acts,” the source added. “Liam loved singing and making music until the end.”

Liam Payne’s tragic death has left fans and friends worldwide in mourning, and his family, along with his devoted fans, continues to honour his memory as he returns to the UK for a final farewell.
