Egyptian startups pitch innovation at SelectUSA Tech event

Date:

CAIRO – 13 February 2026: Paul Oliva, commercial attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Egypt, emphasized that the SelectUSA Tech program serves as a strategic platform for Egyptian entrepreneurs to showcase innovative ideas to international investors, connect with venture capital and early-stage investors, and engage with incubators, opening pathways to the U.S., the world’s largest and most influential market.

The event held in Egypt featured 16 startups nominated by local incubators and investment funds, which presented competitive pitches evaluated by a panel of judges on market opportunity, technical feasibility, investment viability, and innovation.

Two startups were selected as winners, while two others received special recognition. The winning companies will receive financial support from the U.S. Embassy to travel to the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington, D.C., in May, where they can present their projects to a broader base of U.S. investors and potential partners.

Oliva highlighted that the initiative is part of ongoing collaboration with the Egyptian government, including the ministries of communications and information technology, planning and economic development, and foreign affairs, along with educational institutions and incubators. This coordination aims to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem, expand access to investment opportunities, and provide startups with legal, regulatory, and strategic guidance to navigate the U.S. market effectively.

SelectUSA Investment Summit is the U.S. federal government’s flagship event to promote foreign direct investment. Organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce, the summit brings together international investors, companies, economic development organizations, industry experts, and government officials to facilitate investment deals, share market insights, and build high-impact partnerships.

The event features keynote sessions, panel discussions, pitch competitions, an investment exhibition, and networking opportunities that help companies understand the U.S. investment environment and explore expansion opportunities.

Within this framework, SelectUSA Tech is a specialized initiative focused on supporting international technology startups planning to enter or expand in the U.S. market. Eligible startups are based outside the United States, develop innovative technology products or services, and aim to enter the U.S. market within two to three years.

The program provides year-round support, including access to market data, federal agencies, economic development networks, mentorship programs (such as Select Global Women in Tech), and tailored networking opportunities during the summit. Qualified startups can also showcase their technology in specialized pitch sessions, increasing visibility to investors, partners, and the U.S. innovation ecosystem.
