The comprehensive China-Russia Years of Culture program has officially concluded in Moscow, bringing to a close a two-year initiative of extensive cultural and diplomatic exchange. The program featured over 400 joint cultural events held across both nations, which included numerous exhibitions, youth programs, and performances by renowned Russian theaters and orchestras in China. The aim of this massive coordinated effort was to strengthen mutual understanding and foster deeper bonds between the two peoples, serving as a key component of their wider political and cultural diplomacy.
Film cooperation was a significant focus of the exchange. The 2025 China Film Festival was successfully held in major Russian cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Kazan, showcasing a selection of high-quality Chinese films such as Detective Chinatown 1900. Simultaneously, the 2025 Russian Film Festival took place in Beijing and other provincial capitals in China, offering Chinese audiences a glimpse into the latest expressions of Russian cinema. This bilateral focus on film included co-produced movies, such as Red Silk, which was released in both countries.The closing ceremony, held at the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, was marked by performances blending Chinese and Russian musical pieces, and the opening of an art exhibition titled “From Beijing to Moscow: Dialogue of Cultures.” Officials from both sides emphasized that these cultural exchanges are vital for creating a foundation for long-term diplomatic relations and strategic cooperation, especially as the two nations navigate a changing global environment.
